KGF- Chapter 2: All Time Highest Grossing Hindi Film

 

KGF has been making headway in the south films taking over Bollywood, and we are not surprised. Despite its sprawling plot and many characters, Prashanth Neel’s screenplay is highly engaging. His screenplay pays homage to Amitabh Bachchan’s gangster and angry young man films while still managing to push the genre forward. He writes well, even with so many characters and clapworthy scenes. In addition, he is aware that audiences are expecting lots of massy stuff from KGF – CHAPTER, so he has peppered the narrative with plenty of clapable scenes to keep them happy.

The Hindi dialogues are very powerful and further enhance the commercial appeal of the film. A few scenes work big time just due to the acidic one-liners. The director has ensured that there’s tons of drama and action throughout the film. In fact, there’s so much happening every moment that viewers won’t even get time to blink! On the flipside, the film does get a bit confusing as there are several characters. A few developments are a bit convenient. In addition, the love song in the second half acts as a speed breaker though one realizes its importance in the climax.

The Yash starrer KGF – Chapter 2 has crossed the lifetime collections of the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal. After a thunderous start, the business of KGF 2 has been seeing immense growth with each passing week. After blitzing past the Rs. 100 cr., Rs. 200 cr., and Rs. 300 cr. mark, the film is now inching closer to the Rs. 400 cr. mark.

In this box office report, we look at the collections of KGF – Chapter 2 while comparing the same to previous releases. Collecting a further Rs. 8.75 cr. on Day 21, the total collections of KGF 2 are pegged at Rs. 391.65 cr. When compared to previous releases the film has now surpassed the collections of Dangal, which had collected Rs. 387.38 cr. to become the second all-time highest grosser. Though still leading the list is the SS Rajamouli directorial Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion, which had collected Rs. 510.99 cr, the meteoric rise of KGF 2 on the list has been a remarkable sight.

KGF – CHAPTER 2 starts on a fine note but it gets better with the stylish entry of Rocky. It’s sure to create a frenzy in cinemas. Adheera’s entry is menacing while the first confrontation between Rocky and Adheera is quite gripping. The intermission point springs a surprise and will be loved by moviegoers. The second half begins with a bang. The entry of Ramika Sen (Raveena Tandon) adds to the fun and madness. Two scenes that stand out here are Rocky meeting Ramika Sen in the PMO and Rocky heading to the police station to retrieve the gold piece. The latter is sure to stun viewers! The finale, as expected, is out of this world.

Going forward, KGF – Chapter 2 is expected to continue to see its overall collections increase despite the new Hollywood film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hitting screens this weekend. In fact, trade predictions state that KGF 2 will certainly see its business cross the Rs. 400 cr. mark today and eventually near the Rs. 420 cr. mark by the end of the weekend.
