Here is a list of Jaya Bachchan movies that you must not miss at all: –

Silsila (1981)

Director: Yash Chopra

This is the most iconic Bollywood movie of the ‘80s and perhaps will always remain a milestone for the career of the actors and the director. Made on the topics of love, heartbreak, and infidelity, the biggest USP of Silsila was the star cast. The hottest Bollywood news-making rounds those days was the steamy love affair between a married Amitabh Bachchan and the gorgeous Rekha. It was highly speculated that there is a tiff in the married household of the Bachchans. In that tumultuous time, Silsila felt like a real-life account on screen (to some extent). Amit had to sacrifice his love for Chandni and marry Shobha. Shobha is the pregnant fiancé of Amit’s brother Shekhar who died in a plane crash thus to save her from social stigmas, Amit had to step in. On the other side, Chandni is also married now but as Amit and Chandni meet again, their heart couldn’t stop them from meeting and finding solace in each other’s arms. It’s a beautiful movie on loyalty, trust, and pure love. Jaya Ji played the role of Shobha and brought so much dignity and subtlety to the character.

Abhimaan (1973)

Director: Hrishikesh Mukherjee

Jaya Ji won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for this Bollywood romantic musical drama. The story is about a couple who has a shared interest in music. Subir encourages Uma to pursue a singing career. But with the rising popularity of Uma, Subir starts feeling uncomfortable in their union. Ego comes in between them.

Guddi (1971)

Director: Hrishikesh Mukherjee

The endearing coming-of-age story of Guddi is still a favorite movie among the movie buffs. Guddi put Jaya Bachchan on the map of Bollywood. Guddi is obsessed with Dharmendra and disregards her family’s decision to get married and settle down. Her uncle then connects with this Bollywood superstar who teaches Guddi the reality of life. “The girl-next-door” vibe was associated with Jaya Bachchan from this movie.

Desh (2002)

Director: Raja Sen

After almost 3 decades Jaya Bachchan returned where she started. She started her film career with a Bengali language film and in 2002, she did another Bengali movie where she got the chance to share screen space with her son Abhishek Bachchan. The story is about Suprabha – a freedom fighter who agrees to settle down in the USA where her son lives. But when Shanti asks for help, she stays back and fights against a corrupt politician. Watch this movie online on Mzaalo for free . Koshish (1972)

Director: Gulzar

Haricharan and Aarti are physically impaired. Hari is deaf and Aarti is mute but that didn’t stop them from falling in love with each other. They get married and are blessed with a child. But they face many struggles to raise their son. Aarti dies after a few years and it is Hari who raises the kid all alone. This movie teaches all of us a lesson on how to lead life and how to stay happy in “less”.

Mili (1975)

Director: Hrishikesh Mukherjee

Perhaps, the best work of Jaya Ji has always come whenever she has collaborated with Hrishi Da. Mili is a story about life, hope, and love. Shekhar is a recluse while Mili is a cheerful girl. Mili wants everyone to be happy around her and Shekhar doesn’t like unnecessary interference. But Shekhar falls in love with Mili. Things get complicated when Shekhar learns that Mili has cancer.
