 Deepika Padukone donned the look of an easy-go-lucky girl in Cocktail. Her character, Veronica Malaney, is bold as well as emotionally raw. She calls herself a ‘rich bitch’ and gets drunk regularly, but deep inside craves true love and attention.

Veronica is someone who just wants to live her life to the fullest. However, she would not mind transforming herself for the sake of love. Later in the film, Deepika’s character gets impulsive and mean. But her negative transformation leaves the viewers teary-eyed. 2.   Naina Talwar in YJHD

 

 “Tumhari jaisi ladkiyan flirting ke liye nahi ... ishq ke liye bani hai” – this dialogue from the film totally defines Deepika Padukone’s character, Naina Talwar.

She played the role of a shy and nerdy medical student, who constantly tops her exams. But deep inside, she somehow feels like an outcast. The film saw her cast opposite her ex-boyfriend, Ranbir Kapoor.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was heaped with praises by the critics and was a huge success at the box office. Deepika’s chemistry with Ranbir was unmatchable and the film managed to cement the actress' position in the industry. This lead pair will be seen together again in Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha.

3.   Meenamaa in Chennai Express

 

Deepika Padukone played the role of a South Indian girl whose father is a dreaded don. Meenamma aka Deepika definitely manages to woo you, from her adorable Tamil accent to her way of zipping up Rahul at times. She looks adorable and funny and this killer combo is something you can't afford to ignore.

Chennai Express was a box-office triumph and it entered the Rs 200 crore club. The film is Deepika’s second with Shah Rukh Khan after Om Shanti Om. This was one of her best performances.

4.   Leela in Goliyon Ki Raasleela…Ram-Leela

 

Deepika Padukone is one of the few fortunate actresses to have got a chance to play the lead in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. Deepika became critics’ favorite after Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and also won several awards for the same. Her expressions, dialogue delivery, dance, and desi looks were much appreciated. All in all, her performance stunned the audience. With this film, the actress proved that she can even play a village belle convincingly. 5.   Piku Banerjee in Piku

The last release of Deepika Padukone, Piku won many hearts. She played the title role of a Bengali architect, residing in Delhi. She is a daughter who loves her widowed father and takes extreme care of him. But she gets extremely irritated at times due to his eccentricities. Deepika did complete justice to the character and was appreciated by the audiences and the critics alike. Her role was the talking point after the movie was released. With this film, she definitely set a new benchmark for herself.

6.   Tara Maheshwari in Tamasha

According to several reports, the character played by Deepika Padukone in Tamasha is quick, eloquent, and emotionally agile with a gentle gait. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Padukone revealed that her character is a fan of the French comic series, Asterix. During the promotions, director Imtiaz Ali appreciated Deepika’s performance in the film, where she is cast opposite her ex, Ranbir Kapoor. As seen from the posters and trailers, Deepika’s chemistry with Ranbir appears unmatchable. Hence, there are various reasons for having high expectations from Tamasha.
