Her light eyes, fair complexion, and facial features were something the modeling world in India haven’t seen before. She won the Miss World Title in 1994 and debuted in 1997 in Bollywood. But she had to wait for this movie to prove her worthiness as an actor.
  2. Even during the casting, she was written off by the producers. According to the producers, her not-so-Indian looks won’t pull off the character sketch of Nandini. But it was Bhansali who convinced them to cast her as Nandini and give her a complete makeover. Thank God that decision was taken otherwise we wouldn’t have got this refined Aishwarya Rai.
  3. Ismail Darbar – the one who composed the heart-warming music of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam used to be the session Violinist for many leading music directors like Jatin-Lalit, A. R. Nitin Desai was the art director and he created something never seen or done before for this song. If you have seen the video you must remember the huge yellow-orange stage where the family dances. Many would feel that the stage was lit up but that’s not the case. The floor was made of acrylic sheets and marigold flowers were put under it which added that brightness or glow. This dedication and creativity won Nitin Desai a National Award for Production Design.
  5. Sameer is one of the best characters that Salman Khan has ever essayed on screen. He has a habit of talking to his deceased father while looking up in the sky. The fun fact is Sanjay Leela Bhansali had the same habit in his childhood as he lost his dad at a very young age.
  6. Back in the ‘90s, not much research was done for movie shoots. But Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted to bring Bhuj and Kutch live on-screen and that’s why he went to Gujarat for a research trip with Ismail Darbar and Nitin Desai. That kind of research was a first for Bollywood and needless to say, it paid off well!
